It was a Sunday and I was sitting in my room with a friend of mine. Suddenly we saw clouds of smoke emerging from the airport near my house. Mona and me looked at each other and, without any words, ran out of the house, took our scooters and rushed to the airport.
The first hurdle came our way. The policemen were not letting us in as much as we begged. We went on our knees and begged him, but he still didnt budge. We went on the point to bribe him when he gave up, sighed and let us in. We ran inside, screaming our thank you's. The airport seemed not at all to be touched by the happenings of the plane. We went straight to the staircase and to the security check in, which was our next hurdle.
We went inside the cubicle together and begged the policewoman there to let us through, but even she was stubborn. And much more stubborn than the policeman outside. We begged and begged, but we didnt get any results. I saw only one way through this. I got up and asked the policewoman, "Do you know who we are?" She shook her head. I took Mona's hand. "Will you be able to recognize us again?" At this she went in deep thought and I found my chance. I pulled Mona's hand and screamed, "Run!" And both of us started running towards our third hurdle, which was the gates. We darent look back as we were scared on what we would encounter.
We came to the gates and rushed right through and ran to the plane. We went there and saw the condition. I hesitated before going in, but Mona ran in without a second thought and I saw her getting an injured man outside. I rushed in and covered my eyes. There was smoke all around and the fire was making it difficult to see. I spotted a child struggling with his seat belt. His parents were dead and I opened his seat belt, took him in my arms and rushed out. I handed him over to the ambulance and, out of the corner of my eye, saw Mona rushing in.
There was a blast as another fuel tank burst. I turned around instantly and only one word slipped out of my mouth which was... "Mona..." I rushed in and got up sweating.
I was sweating badly and I tried to catch my breath from the dream-no nightmare-I just had. I looked up and saw my curtain on fire from the candle I had forgotten to blow out last night. I took a pillow, covered my face, fell on the bed and screamed "Aw man!" I lazily got up, got a bucket of water and put out the fire.
